Ten sportsbooks received MLGCA approval on October 27, and SWARC met on November 16 to potentially start awarding licenses to the qualified operators. Dec. 6, 2023 — Esports betting company Oddin.gg is reportedly seeking a license to operate in Maryland.

Dec. 4, 2023 — Maryland state legislators will likely push for online casino legalization in 2024. The state legislative session begins on January 10.

Nov. 22, 2023 — A report for the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency estimates that a legal online casino market in the state could generate as much as $1 billion in gross annual revenue.

Nov. 17, 2023 — Maryland sports betting handle rose to $483.1 million in October, a 9% increase from September. That total was the second-largest monthly handle since the state launched one year ago.

Nov. 15, 2023 — ESPN Bet launched in Maryland, replacing Barstool Sportsbook. ESPN is now live in 17 states.

December 14, 2022: The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) has awarded sports betting licenses to two more mobile applicants in Bally Bet and WynnBET.
