Sunday College Hoops Parlay Legs

By Mike Rose

We busted the brooms out with last Sunday’s College Hoops Parlay Legs! The Michigan Wolverines got the day off on the right foot by taking it to Ohio State from the outset never looking back to tally the 77-69 win and cover as 2.5-point favs. The Houston Cougars had me in a sour mood through the first 20 of its revenge bout with Temple, but decided to step on the Owls throat in the second half outscoring them by 20 to cover the 11-point full game spread. Closing the day out were the Colorado Buffaloes who pulled away from Stanford over the final 20 minutes to score the 84-62 triumph and sweep the season rivalry.

Here’s to getting in the black at PointsBet Sportsbook with three more investments you can confidently throw into parlay cards on Super Bowl Sunday!

Michigan State Spartans vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Date and Time: Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 1 PM EST

Location: Value City Arena, Columbus, OH

TV Coverage: CBS

Something just isn’t right with this Ohio State Buckeyes team. With the talent on hand, it should be kicking butt and taking names within the Big Ten. The team just hit rock bottom last time out falling a game under .500 overall after dropping a 77-69 decision to the Maize and Blue in Ann Arbor in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the eight point final margin of victory suggests. Should the Buckeyes fall at home to Northwestern as 5.5-point favorites on Thursday night, they’ll enter this tilt losers of five straight.

But in comes a Sparty team it should have its way with at the offensive end of the court. MSU is beatable in the paint regardless of being ranked No. 87 in 2-point defense. Justice Sueing and Zed Key should have their way. The lane will also be wide open for Brice Sensabaugh to streak to the hoop for east lay-ups. This matchup also pits two of the better 3-point shooting teams in the land up against one another. While each also defends the perimeter at excelled levels, I foresee both team’s sharpshooters filling it up. Even though it’s a noon start on a sleepy Sunday, I expect points to hit the Value City Arena scoreboard with the home team’s season on the line! I also got OSU surpassing its team total.

BET THE OVER

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Northwestern Wildcats

Date and Time: Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 2 PM EST

Location: Welsh-Ryan Arena, Evanston, IL

TV Coverage: Big Ten Network

Two of the better under teams in the B1G square off Sunday afternoon when Zach Edey and the Boilermakers invade Welsh-Ryan Arena to square off against Northwestern. Per the Pomeroy Ratings, these teams rank out with some of the slowest tempo ratings in the country. Purdue clocks in at No. 333 while the Wildcats chime in at No. 272. Matt Painter’s kids have played to low scorers in 14 of 24 played games, while UNW is 13-10 to the under. In B1G play however, PU has cashed over tickets at a 4-3 clip away from Mackey Arena. As for Northwestern, the O/U has split in its six played home games.

I expect the Wildcats No. 261 ranked scoring offense to have major issues stockpiling points against a Boilers defense that allows just over 61 points a game (No. 13) and limits all opposition inside the arc (No. 49) as well as along the perimeter (No. 32). UNW’s been an ATS darling due to a defense that allows 62.0 points per game (No. 20) and a 40.1 percent success rate (No. 26). It ranks No. 12 in 2-point defense and has the Bigs in Robbie Beran and Matthew Nicholson to make Edey earn his stat line. In a game likely to be played at a snail’s pace, look for scoring to be limited in a game I expect plays to a defensive grinder.

BET THE UNDER

SMU Mustangs vs. Wichita State Shockers

Date and Time: Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 4 PM EST

Location: Charles Koch Arena, Wichita, KS

TV Coverage: ESPN

Neither SMU nor Wichita State is going anywhere come the postseason. It’s been tough years for both the Mustangs and Shockers. These AAC rivals squared off in Dallas in late January in a game that saw Wichita eek out the 71-69 outright win and cover as 1.5-point underdogs. The teams played even on the glass as well as in the turnover department.

While Isaac Brown’s kids will march out by far the better of the two defenses, I’m still digging the Ponies plus the points in this rematch. SMU just snapped a two-game losing streak at home against Temple, and should be hell-bent on evening this season rivalry up. This isn’t your older brother’s Wichita State team. It’s beatable! Especially at home where it’s 6-9 to date - Gimme those points!
