LIV Orlando Picks

By Tom Wilkinson

LIV Golf is set for their third event of the season, LIV Golf Orlando, which takes place from Friday, March 31 through Sunday, April 2. Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson are listed as co-favorites in golf betting odds at +1100. Betting underdogs has proven very profitable in LIV Golf and this season has been no different. Charles Howell III won at big odds in Mexico and Danny Lee hit at a big price in Tucson. The field for LIV Golf is just 48 golfers so you would think favorites would do better, but that has not been the case. Howell leads the individual standings through two weeks, while Johnson’s 4Aces GC team leads the team standings. Keep in mind that you can watch the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday on the CW Network. Let’s look at LIV Orlando picks.

Venue: Orange County National (Crooked Cat) is a par 71 that measures 7,297 yards. It is a course with a links feel with many grass bunkers scattered throughout the course.

Last Year: Inaugural Event

TV Coverage: CW Network

Cameron Smith & Dustin Johnson +1100

The favorite in golf betting loses almost every week. On the PGA Tour you will see a favorite win every so often, and LIV Golf does see the favorite win on occasion, but more often than not, the favorite flops. On paper, this would seem to be a good week for either Smith or Johnson to win, but we say that every week in LIV Golf and through the two weeks this season and the seven events last year, the favorite won just once. I do give Dustin Johnson a chance to win this week and at odds of +1100 he may be worth a flyer.

Value Picks

Matthew Wolff +2100

We know that distance off the tee is going to be important this week and Wolff is a long hitter. He also should benefit from the links style where accuracy is not as important. Wolff is also playing better, as he finished 10th in Mexico and 12th in Tucson. He could get a breakthrough win this week.

Louis Oosthuizen +2800

It is easy to make a case for Louis who shines on links courses. He also is playing well, as he is coming off a playoff loss in Tucson. I expect Oosthuizen to play well this week and we get a good price on him to win.

Peter Uihlein +3000

There is no arguing with the way that Uihlein is playing right now, as he has finished 2nd in three of his last five starts on the LIV Tour. He finished 10th last time out in Tucson. I think he can win on the LIV Tour and there is no denying we are getting a good price.

Bryson DeChambeau +5000

I know that DeChambeau has been a huge bust so far on the LIV Tour but if he is ever going to turn the corner it should be this week. We know that he hits the ball a ton and distance is definitely important this week. This course doesn’t penalize going into the rough as much as some other courses, so DeChambeau can just grip it and rip it and that is right up his alley. We have seen big longshots win on a regular basis in LIV and DeChambeau might just be the next longshot to cash.
