LIV Golf Invitational Boston Picks

LIV Golf will hold their fourth event of the season, the LIV Golf International Boston at the International Golf Club with play starting on Friday. LIV Golf continues to make news, as this week World No. 2 Cameron Smith decided to join LIV Golf.

He gives the LIV Tour even more credibility and Smith takes over the role of favorite this week for the LIV Boston event at odds of 9-2. Dustin Johnson had been the favorite in each of the three previous LIV Golf events, but Johnson is the second choice in the betting this week at golf betting odds of 6-1. Another player who joined LIV Golf this week is Joaquin Niemann and he is the third choice in the betting odds this week at 8-1. Let’s take a look at LIV Golf Invitational Boston picks.

Venue: The International Golf Club in Boston is the site for this event. Players will be playing the Oaks Course that was designed by Geoffrey Cornish and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones. The course is a par 72 that is tree-lined, so accuracy will be important, but distance can also play a major factor, as this course can stretch out to 8,325 yards.

BetRivers Sportsbook Review

Favorite

Cameron Smith 9-2

Favorites in golf betting rarely win, as has been in evidence in every LIV Golf event so far. Dustin Johnson was favored in each of the first three LIV events and he failed to win. This time around the honor goes to Smith and I don’t like his chances. He has not played that well since winning the Open Championship. He is definitely overvalued at these odds.

Value Picks

Dustin Johnson 6-1

This course should be all about distance off the tee and Johnson is one of the longest drivers in the world. He has played better of late, as he had three straight rounds in the 60’s at Bedminster but couldn’t catch Henrik Stenson. This week the pressure is off a bit for Johnson, as he is not listed as the favorite. I’ll take D.J. at odds of 6-1.

Bryson DeChambeau 20-1

Another player who is very long off the tee is DeChambeau. He should do well in Boston and it would not be a surprise to see him get the win this week. We definitely get some appealing odds of 20-1.

Brooks Koepka 22-1

When I looked at driving distance on the PGA Tour, I was surprised that Koepka was listed in the top 20. Koepka is one of the biggest names in LIV Golf, and it is time for him to start playing like a top player. I’ll take him at attractive odds this week.

Matthew Wolff 28-1

You may not know that Wolff is one of the longest hitters in the world. He ranked No. 6 in driving distance on the PGA Tour. His game hasn’t been in the right place, but he seems to be making progress. I’ll take a flyer on him at big odds.

Laurie Canter 90-1

I will throw one bomb in here and go with Canter at odds of nearly 100-1. He ranked very high in terms of driving distance on the European Tour. It is also worth noting that each of the first three winners of LIV Golf events were long shots. Perhaps Canter can be a big longshot winner this week. We definitely get some attractive odds.
