February 3, 2025Duke Blue Devils at Syracuse Orange Same Game Parlay Picks Recap
No. 2 Duke extended its winning streak to 16 games—then the longest in the nation—with a dominant 83-54 win and college basketball spread cover against Syracuse. The Blue Devils had five players score in double figures, led by Tyrese Proctor’s 16 points. Kon Knueppel added 12, while Cooper Flagg, Sion James, and Isaiah Evans each contributed double-digit scoring efforts. Syracuse struggled offensively, with Jyare Davis and J.J. Starling leading the team with 12 points apiece. Naheem McLeod added 10, but the Orange lost for the fourth time in five games.
Duke set the tone early, overcoming a sluggish start to take a 37-23 halftime lead, shooting 44% from the field. The Blue Devils caught fire in the second half, hitting 68% of their shots, including 9 of 23 from beyond the arc. Duke’s defense was relentless, tying a season high with 12 steals and converting 14 Syracuse turnovers into 23 points. You’re not beating, letting alone covering, against a team like the Blue Devils when you shoot less than 40% from the field and connect on just 6 of 23 attempts from beyond the arc!
While Syracuse hung around early, they never seriously threatened allowing Duke to methodically pull away to remain unscathed in ACC play. We ended up splitting the same game parlay with Duke covering the 17-point spread and the combined score coming up short of the 143.5 impost. In retrospect, I likely should’ve laid the points with the Dookies knowing full well we we’re going to be all over Clemson at Caesars Sportsbook over the weekend.
Duke Blue Devils at Syracuse Orange Same Game Parlay Picks
The JMA Wireless Dome will be the backdrop for another installment of college basketball same game parlay picks on Wednesday night when the Duke Blue Devils and Syracuse Orange collide in their lone showdown of the regular season. The Dookies ran their win streak to 15 straight over the weekend after taking care of business at home against North Carolina to remain the top dog in the ACC with the only unblemished record (11-0). The Orange picked up a rare win last time out snapping a three-game losing streak after routing Cal on the road to move to 4-7 in conference play.
Linemakers will have the Blue Devils laying double-digits in the mid to upper teens on the road for this one with the total likely to hit the board in the mid-140s. Syracuse has incurred nine straight losses to Duke dating back to the 2019 season, and only managed to cover a pair of those matchups against the closing college basketball spread. To add insult to injury, the average margin of defeat throughout the losing streak chimes in at a robust 15.7 points per game. The over paid out six times with the combined score going for 155.8 points on average.

Duke Blue Devils
Cooper Flagg was locked in for his first taste of the rivalry with the Tar Heels. Though the freshman failed to lead the team in scoring, he put forth an impressive stat line which included 21 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists with the latter two outputs going for team-highs. Duke was simply locked in at both ends of the court early on. The Blue Devils nearly drained 53% of their shots in the first half while holding UNC to less than 30% to take a commanding 47-25 lead into halftime. Though the offense hung another 40 points on the board over the final 20 minutes, the defense loosened up dramatically allowing the Heels to shoot 65% from the floor amounting to 45 points. Because of it, Duke cashed over tickets for the third time in their last four games.
Ranked amongst KenPom’s Top-5 in adjusted efficiency at both ends of the floor, Jon Scheyer’s troops certainly look to be a team capable of cutting down the nets. Caesars currently has them lined +450 favorites, along with the Auburn Tigers, entering the first full week of February.
Syracuse Orange
While Syracuse ranks out as one of the worst teams in the ACC per the current Pomeroy Ratings (#112), the Orange are currently on a heater for those regularly attacking the CBB betting odds. The 75-66 outright win and cover as 5.5-point road dogs to the Golden Bears saw J.J. Starling and his mates move to a moneymaking 7-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight games. Though just 4-4 straight up (SU) in those matchups, the team looks to be gaining confidence deeper into the season.
In conference, only North Carolina (#9), Pittsburgh (#38), Louisville (#18), and Duke (#41) have played to a tougher strength of schedule than that of the Cuse (#46) per KenPom. It seems to have toughened the team’s skin evidenced by the results at the betting window over the last month.
Same Game Parlay Picks
Without a single Quad 1 win to call its own (0-7), the Orange isn’t sniffing the NCAA Tournament at the time of this writing. That could all change with matchups lined up against Duke, UNC, and PITT over the next couple weeks. While I don’t think the Blue Devils win streak is in jeopardy, I do expect Syracuse to bring its “A” game to the hardwood in this sleepy spot for the current conference frontrunners. Immediately following this expected walk in the park, Duke is set to invade Littlejohn Coliseum for an early evening tip against a Clemson Tigers outfit that seemingly looks to be its only major obstacle towards securing the ACC regular season title.
It’s highly possible the Dookies get caught looking ahead knowing how easily the program has disposed of the Syracuse Orange recently. With the Orange not dependent on the 3-ball to score and being readily able to clean the defensive glass (#21), I don’t see why the point spread success can’t continue for the home team provided its proclivity towards turning the ball over at a mind-numbing rate doesn’t muck everything up (#348). With the defense serving up less than 74 per game in its last five contests, we’ll pair Syracuse plus the points with the under in our same game parlay picks and look for a surprising end result to play out Hump Day night.
