Wells Fargo Championship Matchups Picks 17975078

The PGA Tour heads to DC this week for the Wells Fargo Championship. This event normally takes place in North Carolina, but this year’s Presidents Cup is at Quail Hollow, so the Wells Fargo Championship will take place at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland. Rory McIlroy is the defending champion and listed as the golf betting favorite this week. I am coming off a 4-2 week with the matchups at the Mexico Open. Let’s look at this week’s Wells Fargo Championship matchup picks.

Golf Picks

Corey Conners -150 vs. Tony Finau

The price on this matchup may look a little high, but this course suits Conners better than it does Finau. I know that Finau played well in Mexico last week, but that course was right up his ally with length being important. This week you need more accuracy and a good short game. Conners has four top-12 finishes in his last six starts and he is third in GIR. I think Conners is favored for a reason and will win this matchup.

Matt Kuchar -120 vs. Joel Dahmen

Kuchar has played well of late with a tie for 16th at Copperhead, a tie for 2nd in San Antonio and a tie for 3rd at Harbour Town. He leads the PGA Tour in scrambling and he is second in bogey avoidance. Staying out of trouble will be a big key this week and Kuchar is normally accurate off the tee. I will take him in this matchup against Dahmen.

Cameron Young -120 vs. Doug Ghim

Young has played well for much of this season including a tie for 3rd at Harbour Town. He has played well in the past on tough courses and the scoring could be difficult this week. I’ll take Young in this matchup against Ghim.

Marc Leishman -112 vs. Gary Woodland

If it is a tough course then we know that Leishman should do well. He has played well on this course in the past and he currently leads the PGA Tour in par-3 scoring. I don’t know that Woodland will fare as well on a course like this that demands more accuracy than power. I’ll take Leishman in this matchup.

Brian Harman -120 vs. Adam Long

Harman should do well on a course like this that demands accuracy and good short iron play He has won this event in the past, but that was when it was held at Eagle Point. I think he is poised for a good week, so I will take him in this matchup against Long.
