AT&T Byron Nelson Matchup Picks

It is the week before a major, so the field for this week’s AT&T Byron Nelson is not that strong. The only player ranked in the Top 10 in the field is World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler who is listed as a solid golf betting favorite at BetRivers. Jordan Spieth was expected to play in this event, but he withdrew on Monday. The only other players ranked in the Top 20 in the field are Tyrrell Hatton and Tom Kim. The winning streak ended last week, as we went 0-3-2 with the matchups at the Wells Fargo Championship. We’ll look at get back on track with this event in Texas. Let’s look at AT&T Byron Nelson matchup picks.

Defending Champion: K.H. Lee

Tournament Notes: There is a good chance we’ll see some delays this week as rain is in the forecast for all four days. TPC Craig Ranch is one of the easier courses on the PGA Tour and rain should make the greens even more receptive. It is all about Greens in Regulation and putting this week.

Lee, K.H. -125 vs. Si Woo Kim

How can you argue with taking Lee who has won this event in each of the last year years? The only PGA Tour wins for Lee have come on this course and he comes in playing well, as he tied for 8th at Quail Hollow. I’ll take Lee in this matchup against Kim.

Hoge, Tom -120 vs. Griffin, Ben

We know that Hoge is one of the better players on the Tour in GIR, as he ranks 15th and he is also in the Top 30 in par-3, par-4 and par-5 scoring. He played well last year in this event with a tie for 17th. He has been off the last two weeks. I’ll take him in this matchup against Griffin.

Power, Seamus -110 vs. Jaeger, Stephan

Power played better at Quail Hollow with a tie for 18th and he has played well at TPC Craig Ranch in the past with a tie for 9th two years ago and a tie for 17th last year. I’ll take him in this matchup against Jaeger.

Hadwin, Adam -140 vs. Wise, Aaron

Hadwin missed the cut last week and then decided to be a late entrant for this week in Texas. It wasn’t that long ago that Hadwin was playing well, as he tied for second in Louisiana. I don’t know what to make of Wise right now, but we can’t take him until we see some positive results. I’ll take Hadwin in this matchup.

Bezuidenhout, Christiaan -112 vs. McNealy, Maverick

We know that putting will be important this week and that is good news for Bezuidenhout who normally does well with the putter. He had a tie for 19th at Harbour Town and then went to Japan and didn’t play well. He tied for 12th in this event a year ago. I’ll take Bezuidenhout in this matchup against McNealy.
