March Madness Betting Big for Books and for Mattress Mack
March 20, 2024Saturday, March 23 NCAA Tournament Parlay Picks
March 22, 2024Another week of betting action on the NBA comes to a close with a six-game slate on tap for Sunday, March 24. The best matchup from a records standpoint is also the first game of a NBA TV doubleheader with the Oklahoma City Thunder visiting the Milwaukee Bucks at 7 p.m. ET. OKC won its third straight and for the sixth time in seven games taking out Utah, 119-107, on Wednesday. While they’ve been winning, the Thunder have stumbled at the betting window failing to cover the NBA betting line in four straight and seven of their last eight games. It’s an alarming trend for a team that once had the highest cover rate in the NBA but has slipped to third as a NBA pick against the spread.
You can get started early with your winning NBA parlay at Caesars sportsbook with a few early afternoon games to pick from. The day gets started at 3 p.m. ET when the New Orleans Pelicans take on the Detroit Pistons. The Pels are moving up the Western Conference standings with wins in seven of eight games following Tuesday’s tilt with Brooklyn. It was their third straight win and payout making them 6-1-1 as a NBA pick in that span. James Harden takes on his former team at 3:30 p.m. ET when the Clippers host Philadelphia. Finally, we could see points scored in the final game of the day between the Indiana Pacers and LA Lakers. The Pacers boast the NBA’s highest scoring offense but they failed to deliver when the clubs met for the championship of the in-season tournament in December falling 123-109 failing to cover the 3.5-point NBA point spread.

It only takes one and I got spanked by Denver in last week’s matchup with Dallas. Backing the defending champs was a critical mistake costing me on my three-team NBA parlay. And since that game finished before the Clippers contest, it didn’t matter that Atlanta pulled off the upset as a 9.5-point NBA odds underdog. I did correctly pick one game to at least keep my streak alive backing the San Antonio Spurs, who covered the 2.5-point line in their 122-115 defeat of Brooklyn. Off to another Sunday of games we go looking for a winning parlay.
The more I watch the Pelicans the more I like them. During their recent stretch of success they have impressive wins over Indiana, Philly and the Clips while also blowing out Toronto, Portland and Brooklyn. The latter part is what impresses me since Detroit is woeful and it’s unlikely Zion Williamson and Co. take them lightly. Besides, the Pels are in the thick of the West playoff race and have a good chance of reaching the top four. The Pels are also a good NBA pick on the road earning payouts in nearly 61 percent of their away encounters.
Could the game between OKC and Milwaukee be a NBA Finals preview? Well, both are pretty much guaranteed a top seed in their conference so I guess it’s a possibility. That’s still a few months away, though, and the clubs will meet for the first time this season with each of them showing off their offensive prowess recently. The Bucks scored 119 points in a loss to Boston on Wednesday, the fourth time in six games they scored at least that many helping them cash the OVER on the NBA odds each time. The Thunder are one of the most efficient offensive teams in the league playing over the NBA betting total in more than 55 percent of their games making the OVER an inviting play.
My winning NBA parlay comes down to the LA Lakers covering the NBA point spread against the Pacers. When the Lakers show up they can dominate games like they did back in December, dismantling the Pacers 123-109. They shut down Indy’s high-powered offense with Anthony Davis a presence on both ends of the floor. AD went off in the first meeting scoring 41 points with 20 boards, five assists and four blocks. AR15 hit 9 of 12 shots for 28 points and LA shot 53 percent. I’m not saying that’s going to happen on Sunday, but it could and I’m backing the home team on the NBA betting line.
